Take the labor out of planning your Labor Day party! We’ve compiled some tips to help you plan the ultimate gathering – from recipes to activities – to make sure your weekend festivities are a success.

Tip 1: Find recipes that are easy to prepare ahead of time. Dishes like pasta salads, fruit and cookies are easy to fix for a large group and can be made before hand so that you’re not stuck in the kitchen the entire party! Allrecipes.com has many recipe ideas that are sure to please even the pickiest eaters.

Tip 2: Fire up the grill! There won’t be many more warm weekends, so take advantage of the weather and cook outdoors. Stick with hotdogs and hamburgers to make cooking quick and simple, and offer lots of fresh toppings to let everyone customize to taste.

Tip 3: Plan activities for all ages. Keep all of your guests entertained by planning games that everyone can enjoy. Some ideas are corn hole, volleyball, bocce ball and croquet. For games just for the kids, backyard activities like relay races and scavenger hunts can keep them busy for hours!

Tip 4: Keep the party outside! To make clean up afterward easier, encourage guests to stay outside and have several trashcans around the area. If the evening starts to get cool, use an outdoor fireplace or fire pit to keep guests warm and roast marshmallows.

Tip 5: Spice up your backyard with some simple decorations! It’s easy to transform your space by adding just a touch of décor. Table centerpieces like stones and moss, candles, or fresh flowers can really spruce up the look of your backyard – and serve as double duty to hold down your tablecloths. As the sun goes down, outdoor lighting can keep the party going.

We hope your party planning is stress-free and simple! Have a happy Labor Day!
